Novac Music – Bespoke Cutter – The Balance Of Risk – NV003

Bespoke cutter’s journey into the unknown continues across five tracks of stripped hyper-funk. Sliced and diced, this meticulously crafted music is designed for the body as much as the brain. There are hints of so many genres here and yet, all woven together for maximum funk – and damage on the most discerning of floors. The previous bespoke cutter releases have gained widespread attention from those in the know – and this is the most developed and satisfying work yet.

Heavyweight white vinyl, hand stamped I kraft cover with unique artwork print.

RFR – Dj Schwa & Name Does Not Matter – Obsolete – RFR017

A few months ago, Dj Schwa & Name Does Not Matter rumbled through the timbers with their latest EP on RFR Records. For all of you, who like to get physical, we are now offering two Tracks of the digital EP including two brand-new Remixes on Vinyl.

Follow the “Ape King” and jump into the frying acid pan! Straight forward stomping on the beat section, pretty classic when it comes to the bassline. And whilst the 303 is continuously marching towards our cortex, shit kicks in with a nonchalant melody part. Wait, are the old Djax Up days back?

London’s Posthuman is delivering the perfect Remix for “Ape King” qua musical self-definition. His analogue machine park powers the Original with an even deeper drilling bass line, reduces the melody to its essence and nonchalantly sets the groove between classic Chicago and UK Hardcore influences.

“Obsolete” is a true feast for lovers of classic Electro. And despite of the title, all its ingredients are perfectly well balanced. Sounds like Aril Brikha, Nitzer Ebb and Clarence G. (RIP) joined forces in the studio and filtered the essence of one of our favorite genres.

We stay in London. Jerome Hill lays hands on “Obsolete” and proves from the very first second that there is absolutely no space for compromise. This is all about straight Techno and the feeling of being exposed to a stroboscope in a dark basement while the first rays of sunlight are already penetrating through the crack of the door.

Apartment Records – NCW – NCW On NCW – APT13

To celebrate ten years(!) of Apartment, the label welcomes back NCW for his first 12″ in eight years. Tripped out, leftfield techno with enough kick drum to feed a family of 4 for a month; also featuring estranged choirs, disembodied Italo vox and the MGM lion. The silkworm has risen.

Climate of Fear – Vladimir Ivkovic – Sweet Earth Flying – FEAR 003_9

Climate of Fear teams up with Vladimir Ivkovic for the eighth edition of its twelve part tape series. Recorded in in the last months of 2019, Vladimir showcases here his indelibly dank and syrupy sound. Gooey rave carnage, IDM turnarounds and flavor for weeks. One of the all time juiciest sets at any Climate party, this tape hits like a dripping mango in an arid desert. Out April 2021.

ESITU Records – Kink Gong – Zomianscape I & II – ESITU002

“When asked what were my early influences in music were, I get reminded of my teenage years in Parisian suburbs, simultaneously discovering from public libraries two important French record labels : OCORA and GRM.
Then the roots of my interest in traditional music and electro-acoustic experiments grew into doing it myself, recording ethnic minorities of the zomian plateau of south-east Asia and composing a soundscape around it. This is what is happening here.”
– Laurent Jeanneau aka Kink Gong

Kink Gong works with what is unknown to him as an artist whoÕs attracted by beauty and strangeness. He was sucked in by the desire to discover and record ethnic minority music isolated from dominating cultures within south-east Asia, to make more than one hundred and fifty albums over these last twenty years.
Kink Gong has been leaning towards strange marriages, building on these raw materials. He doesnÕt use a synth, musical instruments or his voice either – rather; he makes music from his own recordings. They are lived moments that combine place, people and music, as if they were made out of the same material.

Inveterate – Tapefeed – Revolving Door – INVTRT001

Tapefeed launch their new label Inveterate with a furious and forward-thinking 5-track EP, which includes a class remix from Cocktail Party Effect. This EP brings together the duo’s ethical beliefs with the energy of protest against an elitist society. This runs through every element of the project, musically and visually. ‘Revolving Door’ deals with the constant corruption of unaccountable governments. It’s inspired by ‘Inveterate Liar’, the track which gave the label its name and its focus, and the title comes from the feeling that nothing ever changes, that one thief is simply replaced by another. “Plain View’ is about the power in the Fourth Amendment that allows any officer to seize any evidence and contraband that is found in plain view, a loophole wide open for lies and brutality to creep through. ‘Kickback’ is what you pay to grease the wheels of the corporate machine, and “The Archetypes” refers to the five archetypes of politicians: the joker, the technocrate, the messiah, the rebel and the outsider. These are five tracks thumping with the power and spirit of resistance, bringing unrest and revolution to the heart of the dancefloor.

Climate of Fear – Izabel – Empire Of The Senseless – FEAR 003_10

For the tenth edition of its tape series, Climate of Fear presents “Empire of the Senseless,” a rippling, brooding session by Izabel. Recorded at an april 2019 party opening for Legowelt, “Empire” shows the Lullabies for Insomniacs boss in a molten halftime groove, drifting from fungal ambient to dark-aura’ed club crawlers. Rich, unnerving, sorrowful and sensuous. Feel your face melt.

WSNWG005 – Vril & Rødhåd – Presents Out Of Place Artefacs – WSNWG005 (repress)

Strange anomalies are scattered throughout the world. Things that could not possibly belong to the time period or place in which they were found. These so called out of place artifacts baffle historians & archaeologists up until today and have inspired producers Vril & Rødhåd to write a collaborative concept album.

As a result the two producers got together in the studio with the idea to subvert the expectations of their previous work. They experimented over two sessions in 2018 and 2019, resulting in a record showcasing a different palette of sounds and tempo.

The album is suited for deep listening and exploring aforementioned concepts or introspection in general. A mystic tone is set from the start, and grips the listener throughout the whole run time. Each track encapsulates this notion in its own unique form, blending sonic ambience and complex beats that reaches spectral heights.

Both producer’s styles shine individually, but the collaboration achieves something greater than the sum of its parts.

Ripped from a riverside warehouse party in the dog days of summer 2019, Terekke dials up the soulful, expressive house moods that undergird through his ephemeral productions. Digital pianos? Check. Vocal A1’s? Check. “Let No Man Put Asunder” samples? Check. No need to strap in, this one’s a cruise.

DUM Records – Various – Finnish Electro All-Star EP – DUM037 (repress)

Mono Junk’s cult label DUM Records is back with a new five track Various Artists EP that again packs a vital punch.  He appears himself along with some fellow legends of the scene.  First up, Morpholgy is a consistent performer who has continued to serve up quality electro since 2009 and here serves up a hot new piece. ‘Vector Plant’ is busy and industrial, slick and metallic as it unfolds and burrows deep into your veins. Then comes the A2, Irwin Berg featuring Freestyle Man (aka Finnish Moodmusic boss Sasse aka Klas Lindblad)  with a track made in 1995 and never released before. This pair worked together and made a cult electro record for  Sähkö Recordigs in 1998 and this one is just as impactful. It is frosty and frazzled, slow motion but high impact and full of distorted lines and heavy drums.  Next is Mr Velcro Fastener who were the first kings of electro to come out of Finland and between 1999 and 2006 were famous all over the world. Their brand new cut ‘Almost There’ is a deep one that is riddled with bleeping melodies  and has smeared chords bringing a sci-fi feel. Then it is Mono Junk’s turn to dive into the vaults with an unreleased  track from 2005. ‘Feeling or Destroy’ is a physical number with crashing hits and snaking, gurgling bass that is dark  and dystopian. Last of all comes Irwin Berg with Mono Junk as New York City Survivors. Says the DUM boss, “Our unreleased track here was made after the New York City Survivors – Static Light CD 2002” and it is a turbo charged track with  screwed up grinding bass, icy hi hat rhythms and menace in its grooves.

Forbidden Planet – DJ Loser – Illusion Hunt – FP018

Following seminal releases on Novi Svijet, Veyl and Live Adult Entertainment, DJ Loser makes his Forbidden Planet debut with “Illusion Hunt” an album of killer rave, trance and techno cuts in his signature style.

Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, Dj Loser has had a significant impact on the international underground scene as a key figure in the modern revival of a darker, more hardcore techno sound. Unsurprisingly, his releases on Live Adult Entertainment are almost impossible to get your hands on.

The album itself features nine tracks which range from jacking trance & techno (e.g. Bad Standard, End of Hypnosis) to hip-hop/dnb inspired cuts (Illusion Hunt) and even ethereal soundscapes (Godknights Stigma, Synethesia Symptom).

This is a release you won’t want to miss.

RFR – Generali Minerali / RNBWS – BETON EP – RFR016 (repress)

Cross-border wiring in the studio for the new RFR release! Russia and Georgia share their musical conscience and deliver a fine split EP for cat. no. 16. RNBWS just recently caused a sensation with new tracks on RFR, and we already know Generali Minerali from his first release for RFR X. So now it’s about to time to melt their creative spirit into a collective EP on vinyl.

Generali Minerali and his army occupy the a-side. “Generation of Mars” is musical terraforming in its purest form. Minimally crafted electro, a shot of acid and well-placed melodic patterns are the main ingredients for a magnificent opener. “Dry Water” sticks with the electro leitmotiv. Compared to the A1 we find a closer reference to the dance floor, meandering scanner sounds and a snare, that keeps slapping constantly. This is how we like it!

On the b-side RNBWS carry on where Generali Minerali and his troops had left the battlefield. “Galaxy” opens the doors to an interplanetary round dance, the place where mind and body join together in the sense of classic electro. “Nothing but Hardcore” needs no further explanation. UK hardcore in its most beautiful garments, which is so characteristic for RNBWS’ tracks. Interwoven by electro elements, who get to the heart of this EP in terms of stringency.

RFR – Jichael Mackson – Flat Moon Society EP – RFR018

Yep people, you’ve got us right. While many of us are still looking for traces of lizard people  wandering over a flat earth, your favourite producer’s favourite producer has already boarded his  space vehicle in the direction of moon, closely observing our mediocre attempts to enrich our  earthly existence.

Magician Jichael Mackson opens his bag, presenting the signature sound he’s so famous and  respected for. Deep and bass driven grooves, perfectly layered on top of each other like damask  steel. In order to enjoy this masterpiece, we recommend to snort a big line of that “Digital Dust”.

Family Biz” is taking a more laidback and broken beat direction. Dense percussions, intricate  harmonies and a lot of soul and jazz vibes are hidden in this gem. Best to be discovered with your  friends and loved ones on a sunny day beneath a shady tree, enjoying a couple of glasses while  waiting for the sunset. Geez, this is so damn gorgeous.

ATH” ends this formidable EP. Again, no club inspired vibes (cos clubs are closed anyway, right?)  pulsating out Mackson’s snyths, instead a more abstract broken beat crawling into our ears. Eerie  sound modulations and creepy acid – lovers of DJ Krush’s older works might fall in love with this.

Vala – Kaspiann, Multicast Dynamics – VALA 1 – VALA001

The first release in Vala series is pieced together by Kaspiann and Samuel van Dijk with his Multicast Dynamics and Mohlao aliases. Characterised by melancholic melodies and ethereal pads combined with hefty rolling bass, the EP is a diverse four tracker that seeks to take its listener on a trance-like voyage to those fleeting moments of euphoria. Originating from the north, Vala is a manifestation of the profound feelings of the gloomy but wistful polar nights.

WSNWG007 – Rene Wise & Rødhåd – WSNWG007 – WSNWG007 (repress)

For the most recent collaborative release curated by WSNWG, label head Rødhåd invited young, Brighton-based breakthrough producer and DJ Rene Wise to his studio for a week-long jam session in 2019. The end result is four driving, hypnotic Techno tracks with a swinging groove and 90s-inspired percussion. Made for the club, they build up tension and captivate listeners with rolling baselines, funky rhythms and mystical melodies.
