Climate Of Fear – Bambounou – Guts – FEAR 003_6
(Tape)

Paris’ Bambounou cracks down on Climate of Fear’s sixth edition of its tape series. Recorded at Climate’s final Berlin party before lockdown, Bambounou grips turns and swerves across lanes in this high tension neo-rave workout; cutting edge technoid tracks move with a hard hitting bounce and zero body fat weightlessness. Lithe & deadly, “Guts” spills with venomous glee, tempered with expert finesse.

Ilian Tape – Kas – Like Sunlit Threads – ITLP08

Encounters with the ineffable.
The dormant roused.
Openness, observation, questioning, humility, sincerity.
Re-imagining the known, that which is untapped, all that was concealed.
Pathways to wholeness unearthed.
Meeting of truest self.
Temporal versus infinite.

The fallout.

Sudden disintegration, falling away, continuity shattered.
Facade ruptured, persona released, identity laid bare, history withdrawn.

Appearance of no-thing-ness.

Pregnant with possibilities, birth out of chaos, mystery unfolds.
Healing through anguish, renewal through trauma.
Newborn imaginings.

Accept the summons.

Chapters of lucidity, adventures in clarity.
Alignment in harmony.
All encompassing.
Reorientation emerges, subsequent renewal, transcendent insights, enlightened revelations.
Surrender reached, acceptance embraced, liberation appears.

Transmutation.

Solemn symbols of gratitude.
New found depth of meaning, of understanding, of moving, of seeing.
Beyond mental illusion, unifying as nature, expression of stillness.
Vision of the undivided, transmission of wisdom.

Flowering into being.

Climate Of Fear – Polar Inertia – Ripped Through The Valley – FEAR 003_2

Climate of Fear follows up Soft Boi’s debut LP with a mammoth drop:

12 tapes ripped straight from the first two years of Berlin parties. Released one per month, the series moves from Izabel’s shivering chug through Nkisi’s deadly anarcho-gabber psychedelia, Polar Inertia’s sleek techno throb and DJ Python & Mad Miran’s impromptu closing b2b.

Climate of Fear’s second installment in their tape series comes from Polar Inertia: a one hour masterclass of HD ice burn techno. Recorded live, the set shows PI in full command of their craft, lunging forward with deadly intent while opening up to moments of shivering awe. The full roster is as follows:

Elena Colombi
Polar Inertia
Nkisi

Climate Of Fear – NKISI – Peeling – FEAR 003_3

The next one, NKISI

Climate of Fear follows up Soft Boi’s debut LP with a mammoth drop: 12 tapes ripped straight from the first two years of Berlin parties. Released one per month, the series moves from Izabel’s shivering chug through Nkisi’s deadly anarcho-gabber psychedelia, Polar Inertia’s sleek techno throb and DJ Python & Mad Miran’s impromptu closing b2b.

Climate’s third release in its tape series is a writhing hardcore masterclass from Nkisi. Recorded the same night as Elena Colombi’s entry, it offers an inverted counterpart to that set’s languid grooviness. Nkisi wrings a supple and hypnotizing atmosphere from the most astringent and defiant selections, using the 170+ bpm kick drums and scythe-like percussion to envelop the listener. Creation and destruction merge in a fluid void state. NSFW.

Lunar Disko – Automatic Tasty – Strange Terrain EP – LDR_10 (repress)

Lunar Disko Records begins 2012 with a milestone 10th release from
local hero Automatic Tasty, aka Jonny Dillon. The ‘Strange Terrain
EP’ is the eagerly anticipated follow up to his debut 12″ ‘In It For
The Money’ on LDR.

The amusing ‘Keep Your Receipt’ kicks off the EP, where the
idiosyncratic Mr. Tasty makes a cameo vocal appearance on why you
should have…eh…kept your receipt! ‘Beannach Mhor’ is next up, and
is a fine example of how the Auto’ Tasty sound is evolving ever more.
The up-tempo ‘Over The Hill’ completes the A-side, a rumbling 101
bassline beneath catchy keys continue the Automatic Tasty explorations
of the strange terrain…

The Lunar favourite ‘Tropic Exchange’ begins the flip side with more
vintage sounds crafted with dexterity to create that unparalleled
Automatic Tasty sound. Completing the EP is ‘Small Hours’, a rolling
808 jam with twinkling imaginative melodies that makes for a perfect
ending to another timeless EP…

Unruh – VA – Sextant Part1 – Unruh01

For their first release, Zurich-based label Unruh proudly present Sextant Part 1, comprising four tracks from the crew and their friends.
First up is Panstarrs with ‘Pendulum’, a fierce slice of dark, semi-industrial electro, followed by the nagging synths and jacking drums of ‘Night Ride’ by Tachyon.
The flip opens with ‘Mammoth Hunt’ by The Winky Wanky Wonky Woo, a shapeshifting behemoth of unhinged effects and pounding beats, before Robotron brings the EP to a blissful conclusion with ‘Baltik’.
Mastering and vinyl cut by Andreas ‘Lupo’ Lubich. Worldwide vinyl distribution by DNP Music, Berlin.

Climate Of Fear – Shanti Celeste – Catalytic Cracking – FEAR 003_7
(Tape)

Shanti Celeste

Climate of Fear slides into the end of winter with a sublimely lush dose of warmth from the inimitable Shanti Celeste. For the seventh entry into its tape series, the Peach Discs boss spares no one: ocean-floor bass drops, wicked drum science and tight, tensile synths are blended with a dose of luminous warmth. Freaking nasty, joyful and tough as nails.

DUM Records – Various – Finnish Electro All-Star EP – DUM037 (repress)

Mono Junk’s cult label DUM Records is back with a new five track Various Artists EP that again packs a vital punch.  He appears himself along with some fellow legends of the scene.  First up, Morpholgy is a consistent performer who has continued to serve up quality electro since 2009 and here serves up a hot new piece. ‘Vector Plant’ is busy and industrial, slick and metallic as it unfolds and burrows deep into your veins. Then comes the A2, Irwin Berg featuring Freestyle Man (aka Finnish Moodmusic boss Sasse aka Klas Lindblad)  with a track made in 1995 and never released before. This pair worked together and made a cult electro record for  Sähkö Recordigs in 1998 and this one is just as impactful. It is frosty and frazzled, slow motion but high impact and full of distorted lines and heavy drums.  Next is Mr Velcro Fastener who were the first kings of electro to come out of Finland and between 1999 and 2006 were famous all over the world. Their brand new cut ‘Almost There’ is a deep one that is riddled with bleeping melodies  and has smeared chords bringing a sci-fi feel. Then it is Mono Junk’s turn to dive into the vaults with an unreleased  track from 2005. ‘Feeling or Destroy’ is a physical number with crashing hits and snaking, gurgling bass that is dark  and dystopian. Last of all comes Irwin Berg with Mono Junk as New York City Survivors. Says the DUM boss, “Our unreleased track here was made after the New York City Survivors – Static Light CD 2002” and it is a turbo charged track with  screwed up grinding bass, icy hi hat rhythms and menace in its grooves.

HPTY-Recordings – Behind The Trees – Behind The Trees EP – HPTY014

Behind The Trees ep.

Finnish band Behind The Trees releases their self titled debut ep.

Curiosity towards world music, shamanistic approach to rhythms and cosmic levels in life made it happen. There are five different kind of tracks in the ep.

The intro track “Haiku” is a mood setter for the whole journey. Inspired by the mid eastern mystical soundscapes.
Second track “Bonefire” follows the path, painting a picture of desert campfire, where travellers psychedelic guitar will trip you out as your body follows the rhythm.

Third track “Acid Yerli” is the climax on the ep. Turkish disco and acid house combined, you don ́t have to be scientist to figure out the forecast.

On the flip side “X4” is a different kind of expedition.
Hear the waves hitting the rocks and balearic breese corressing your cheek bones. Track “X4” is a kind of balearic homage to eighties AOR, seasoned with chanting soft voice of Finnish singer Suva.

Last track “Gentle” relaxes your mind and body. The piece has a grounding vibe, with healing resonances that will restore your energy.

Dare to see Behind the Trees, the obscure adventure of life.

Inveterate – Tapefeed – Revolving Door – INVTRT001

Tapefeed launch their new label Inveterate with a furious and forward-thinking 5-track EP, which includes a class remix from Cocktail Party Effect. This EP brings together the duo’s ethical beliefs with the energy of protest against an elitist society. This runs through every element of the project, musically and visually. ‘Revolving Door’ deals with the constant corruption of unaccountable governments. It’s inspired by ‘Inveterate Liar’, the track which gave the label its name and its focus, and the title comes from the feeling that nothing ever changes, that one thief is simply replaced by another. “Plain View’ is about the power in the Fourth Amendment that allows any officer to seize any evidence and contraband that is found in plain view, a loophole wide open for lies and brutality to creep through. ‘Kickback’ is what you pay to grease the wheels of the corporate machine, and “The Archetypes” refers to the five archetypes of politicians: the joker, the technocrate, the messiah, the rebel and the outsider. These are five tracks thumping with the power and spirit of resistance, bringing unrest and revolution to the heart of the dancefloor.

Lunar Disko – VC-118A – Vlucht Naar Nachtschade – LDR_16

After a mini-hiatus, Lunar Disko Records returns with a four track EP featuring two of our favourite producers, VC-118A, and Delta Funktionen….

VC-118A aka Samuel van Dijk returns on Lunar Disko, guiding the listener into deeper realms of sound via three more expertly crafted electro tracks. Aficionado’s of VC-118A’s deep sound will be particularly pleased with this latest installment of emotive electronics from the VC-118A project.

Delta Funktionen makes his Lunar debut and completes the EP with a killer techno / electro remix of ‘Vlucht Naar Nachtschade’. DF combines rough 808 drums and a deep moog-like bass with VC-118A’s sparse and spacious sound to devastating effect.

RFR – Generali Minerali / RNBWS – BETON EP – RFR016

Cross-border wiring in the studio for the new RFR release! Russia and Georgia share their musical conscience and deliver a fine split EP for cat. no. 16. RNBWS just recently caused a sensation with new tracks on RFR, and we already know Generali Minerali from his first release for RFR X. So now it’s about to time to melt their creative spirit into a collective EP on vinyl.

Generali Minerali and his army occupy the a-side. “Generation of Mars” is musical terraforming in its purest form. Minimally crafted electro, a shot of acid and well-placed melodic patterns are the main ingredients for a magnificent opener. “Dry Water” sticks with the electro leitmotiv. Compared to the A1 we find a closer reference to the dance floor, meandering scanner sounds and a snare, that keeps slapping constantly. This is how we like it!

On the b-side RNBWS carry on where Generali Minerali and his troops had left the battlefield. “Galaxy” opens the doors to an interplanetary round dance, the place where mind and body join together in the sense of classic electro. “Nothing but Hardcore” needs no further explanation. UK hardcore in its most beautiful garments, which is so characteristic for RNBWS’ tracks. Interwoven by electro elements, who get to the heart of this EP in terms of stringency.
